Boartore is in smoldering ruins and it is apparent that we need to get the staff away from here and to Grimgold as soon as we can.  Garhopper summons us and says he has a way for us to get to Grimgold and then Grimgold can teleport us to the City of Warmth so we can finally destroy the damn staff every bad guy from Kett to the Nine Hells wants. Out of the shadows steps a tall well-dressed man, Sir Thalimew from Furendy.  He says there is a way to get us to the Adventurers Guild Mountain fortress where Grimgold was hiding out.  We step up thinking this is a great wizard will teleport us, but he says no, he doesn’t have the means, but the mad biologist, Souless, down the basement has vats full of demon ochre and he has found a way to teleport us.

I look at the others excited as I particularly like my cheetah speed along with my cool spots, but the others don’t seem to share my excitement.

We head down to the basement and Souless is there sporting a new limb and seems to be a bit more mad than usual.  He shows us the vats – one for each of us and says we need to jump in and then he will zap us there – he points to some coils with sparks of lightning jumping between them.  I jump in, but the others don’t seem so sure, but after a bit of cajoling and name calling everyone gets in and we feel a sharp pain and when we wake, we are inside the Adventurer’s Guild fortress which is being attacked by Fire Giants and their minions of minotaur, ogres, orcs and goblins.  A large contingent of mercenaries and the Adventurer’s Guild is trying to hold the gates.

We join the fray and we are able to push back the first wave but we see the rest of the army cresting the hill.  One of the commanders’ yells to us to fall back and find Grimgold who is at the keep, as they won’t be able to hold the gate long and Grimgold needs to get us to the City of Warmth. Apparent Duke Zultan did not take it well when he found out we killed his son, and he has unleashed his army on the Adventurer’s Guild looking for us.

We rush toward the keep and a wizard in red strides out leading two Shield Guardians – a very wounded Grimgold between them.  The Wizard tells us he is an agent of Rary and will release Grimgold in exchange for the staff, apparently, they don’t know that Grimgold has one of the shards.  I steal his amulet and am about to tell the shield guardians to drop Grimgold when I blink and the amulet is back in the hands of the Wizard.  I hate Wizards…except for Scorchy…sneaky bastards.  Scorch tells me later that wizard was very powerful and had heard that there are some Wizards who can actually freeze time itself.

He was pretty powerful because he called a demon forth, and who should it be but our old friend Chaos, though this time he is mad at us because we won’t give him the staff.  We kill the Wizard and hold off Chaos…barely…while Grimgold hands me the other shard and starts the spell to send us to City of Warmth.  “Good luck Heroes,” he says as the portal opens.  “I have to stay behind to close the portal. Go, quickly.”

Oberon and I don’t need urging and we shove Pinroy through.  Scorch sends one more wave of lightning at Chaos and dives through the portal.  Chillax throws a blast of cold at Chaos and with a last look at his mentor jumps after us and the portal closes, sealing the fate of Grimgold and all at the fortress.
